“Sacrifices and offerings are designed to bring the removal of guilt (expiation) or the obtaining of God’s favor (propitiation).”

1. Burnt Offerings

“Burnt offerings are continuous sacrifices of unblemished animals which are completely burned and never eaten.  After the worshiper lays his hands on the animal and it is killed, its blood is sprinkled around the altar in atonement for the worshiper’s sins.”
