Along with my time on the treadmill this year, I will be exercising my Spiritual legs as I walk through the Bible.
“… that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD.” Deuteronomy 8:3
I have chosen to go through The Daily Bible because it is the only Bible that I have actually been able to stick with and read all the way through. And as the saying goes…
What I love about this Bible is that it gives a summary of what you will be reading that day, which is such a help for me to better understand the Scripture.
It also lays out for you exactly what you need to read each day in order to finish in one year…which is no tall feat. Reading the Bible through in a year is challenging; some days requires quite a bit of reading in some books that, in my mind, are not terribly exciting.
It is a chronological Bible, which gives quite unique insight into God’s great scheme and planning and I have found it to be a very interesting way to read through Scripture.
But what I love most is how it divvy’s up the Psalms. It is so cool to read David’s struggles with Saul and his enemies, while reading the Psalms he wrote during each struggle, each time of doubt and fear while continuing to give praise to God.
So, my plan this year for this blog is to post the daily reading plan along with insight quotes from the commentary given before each reading from The Daily Bible. I will continue to post how God works in my life as He leads, but I will focus my time on preparing the book I feel God leading me to write instead of making excuses at to why I can’t.
I hope you will join me on this journey…
“For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” Romans 15:4
