God has truly gifted my amazing sister-in-law!!  She writes beautiful poems/song lyrics…and wrote this poem quickly this morning!!

AWESOME.

I love how God uses His broken, weak, self-focused creation to bring glory to Himself.

Truly amazing.

“Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.”   2 Timothy 2:20-21

TO DO

So many things I didn’t do today

The list is extensive what can I say

I didn’t get to this I wanted to do that

My curtains need washed and so does the cat

My shelves are quite dusty

My bird cage needs care

My floor needs vacuumed

And so do my stairs

The mountain of laundry is waiting for me

So are several dishes stashed away in my sink

My bed never got made

My basement’s a joke

There’s so much to do I’m going to choke

Whatever did I do today I ask?

Sit on the couch eating bon-bons I laugh

Well actually I changed many a diaper

And fed several bottles too

I taught my oldest something and my middle one too

I taught them how to laugh even when stressed out

I taught them to be kind and not to wig out

We sang some praise songs and danced to a few

We ate some healthy food oh and a few cookies too

They learned how to clean up

I learned how to teach

Again and again now to try a new speech

We talked about why some people are very unkind

They learned how God’s love is blind

We talked about the rainbow and the colors God made

We learned why we should not be afraid

My oldest learned to look after the little ones

She learned that big sister is a big job

We caught some butterflies and let them go

We talked about how they know where to go

I gave many hugs and got some back

I even got some slobbery baby kisses

Now that’s where it’s at!

So all in all I have to say

It was a very very busy day

My list of things to do is still large

But the most important things I do in my day

Can’t be checked of on my list

But really that’s ok.

I Spy a flock

Many months ago on my way home from work, I drove past beautiful fields of wheat, corn, soybeans and whatever else the farmers were harvesting.

The wind was blowing heavily and with it a crisp chilly smell of winter…

What I noticed in the air was a flock of birds.  They were small birds, sparrows perhaps, but what struck me was how all those birds flew together in sync with one another.  Turning and gliding without hesitation, without warning, changing direction in an instant, responding to the blow of the wind and taking a path – albeit not a straight one – to their destination wherever it was.

Those birds flew perfectly harmonized, as if they knew exactly what the other were about to do responding gracefully together able to withstand the force and shift of the wind.

It was stunning, and a wonderful picture of how God uses Christians – each of us working together to fill a spot we are created to fill, and albeit not perfectly, but when we choose to follow God’s leading and stand in the spot made only for us using the gift God equipped us with, we work beautifully together through all of life’s ebbs and flows – in sync.

Beautiful.

“And he gave… teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be …tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, …Rather, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”   Ephesians 4:11-16
