From Manasseh to Josiah

“Before Nineveh’s fall, Manasseh’s reign will come to an end with his death.  Manasseh’s son Amon supports idolatry and wickedness and is assassinated after a brief rule of two ears.  He is succeeded by Josiah, the most godly king that Judah has ever known.  Josiah takes the throne when he is only eight years old and initiates sweeping reforms when he is 16.”

Spiritual Decline Under Manasseh

“Under Hezekiah’s conscientious leadership, Judah has experienced a spiritual revival, but every generation must determine its own commitment.  Whether it is because Hezekiah was so busy leading his nation to God that he neglected his own children, or because his son, at the age of 12, takes the reins of power at far too early an age, the sad fact is that Manasseh turns the people from God back to idolatry and other pagan practices.”
