Beginning of the Great Galilean Ministry
“Rejected by those closest to him in Nazareth, Jesus takes his ministry elsewhere. Surprisingly, though, it is not to Jerusalem and surrounding Judea that Jesus goes. Contrary to the expectation of the Jews, Jesus takes his ministry primarily to Galilee. It is here that Jesus gains popularity among the people and begins to see the crowds swell. Matthew begins his account of the Galilean ministry by observing that this phase of Jesus’ ministry is a fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy.”
