Ezra and the Second Return
“Malachi paved the way for a time of renewed interest in the law and in the work of two men whose joint leadership brings about a time of religious reform. A great teacher of the law named Ezra, along with a company of over 1500 Jews, leaves Babylon to be the second contingent of Jews to return to Palestine since the exile. They arrive in Jerusalem with more treasures for the temple service and the ongoing redevelopment project.”
