“This wonderful historical account must surely be an inspiration to Jews all over the Persian Empire whose ancestors have suffered continual persecution.  It is a patriotic story and a supreme example of personal courage.  Although there is no mention of God or covenant or restoration, there is the clear message that God watches providentially over his people.

The celebration which ensued following the great victory over Haman and his supporters was the beginning of a yearly commemoration observed by Jews even to this day, called Purim.”
