The Daily Bible continues through 1 Samuel, introducing an amazing woman, Abigail, and also continuing Saul’s relentless pursuit of David.
Abigail is married to a very wealthy, crude and foolish man named Nabal. Abigail is the epitome of a good wife; she protects Nabal and his household by doing all she can to stop David from seeking revenge upon this man who so arrogantly paid back evil for good. But not only does Abigail protect her undeserving husband, she also stops David from taking vengeance into his own hands.
Through today’s reading, it is clear that God’s favor is upon David not only through the actions of Abigail but also because He steers David away from danger and delivers Saul into his hand once again. You’d think Saul would catch on, but clearly Saul is far from God and also far from the promises he continually offers to David of repentance and sorrow for his actions.
