Saul Appointed King

“The Scriptures make it clear that God will have a hand in choosing the kings and in regulating their conduct.  The first king would seem to be a rather unlikely choice, due to serious flaws in his character.  In fact, he is of the tribe of Benjamin, which not many years earlier had engaged in spiritual rebellion.  Nevertheless God uses Saul to bring about his will in the unification of the Kingdom.”
