Samuel Brings About Transition

“Attention now focuses upon a person of unique status.  Born in response to his barren mother’s prayers, Samuel is the last of Israel’s judges, one of its many prophets, and the anointer of its first king.  God has already anticipated his people’s desire to have a human king just as the nations around them, and the time is drawing near for God to grant that which he knows will only be destructive to the nation of Israel.”
