I often feel a heavy burden over how I live my life.
When I am called to glory or Lord willing (and what would be preferred quite frankly, because I am NOT a big fan of pain) when Jesus returns for me… and God calls into account all the works I have done for Him in my lifetime, will He say to me:
“Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” Matthew 25:21,23
Will He??
As I read in Romans the other day, Paul’s greeting in his letter to the church in Rome stopped me cold:
“Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God…” Romans 1:1
bond·ser·vant noun
1. A person obligated to service without wages.
2. A slave or serf.
3. Devoted to another to the disregard of one’s own interests.
As believers we are SET APART and called to continue Christ’s work here on earth. To be His hands, His feet, His voice…and to share the Good News with those God has put in our life. They are not in our lives by accident.
Oh I long to make a difference in this world for Christ. I long for others to see Christ in me through the way I speak, the way I write and the way I act.
Am I fully living for God or for myself?
Would I call myself a bondservant?
How about you?
